The International Finance Centre, Exchange Square, Landmark, Central Tower, Lan Kwai Fong and Central Market are in Central; Shun Tak Centre and Western Market are in Sheung Wan; Sai Ying Pun, Kennedy Town and Belcher's Street are in Western District; Mid-Levels connects to Central via the escalators; The University of Hong Kong is at the western end of Pok Fu Lam Road. From Central, Sheung Wan and Hong Kong Station, take the Island line to Admiralty, change to the East Rail to Tai Wai, then change to the Tuen Ma line to Shek Mun, about 40 minutes.
Cards in Central and Sheung Wan are often in office or home small chassis with little cooling space, so overheating and throttling is common. Central and Western Common Card Problems
Overheating in Central office small chassis: ITX cooling is poor in IFC, Exchange Square and Central Tower. Confirm thermal pad thickness before replacing paste — do not add pads at random.
Throttling in Mid-Levels and Western District residences: go to Sheung Wan or Kennedy Town first, then count about 40 minutes across the harbour. There is no branch to hand a card to.
A burnt smell from 12VHPWR in an office machine: cut the power immediately. Do not swap the cable in Central and keep using it — send the cable end to Shek Mun with the card.
Mail the card after work: SF Express to Shek Mun, diagnosis the next day, is more practical than rushing the last train across the harbour.
Buildings & Shopping Centres
The buildings, shopping centres and estates below are all within the card drop-off area. They are not branches, and there is no second repair bench. Cards still go to Room 1209, Dali Plaza, Shek Mun, Sha Tin.
Central
Hong Kong Station and Central Station. Admiralty, then the East Rail to Tai Wai, then change to the Tuen Ma line, about 40 minutes. None of these are repair shops.
Within walking distance of Central Station. Office small machines often overheat. No card drop-off counter.
Sheung Wan
Sheung Wan Station and Hong Kong Station. Likewise two transfers across the harbour. Shun Tak Centre is not a branch.
Western District, Mid-Levels
Go to Sai Ying Pun Station or Kennedy Town Station first, then count about 40 minutes. Street shops do not accept cards.
Mid-Levels has no MTR. Walk or ride to Central first, then cross the harbour. Mailing the card in is usually more convenient.
HKU Station. The campus is not a card drop-off point. About 40 minutes across the harbour to Shek Mun, or SF Express to Room 1209.
